For all the Mallus out there…. here is my first Kerala recipe. This is my all-time favourite and the recipe comes straight from my Mom. There may be other ways to cook this one, but this is how my Mamma cooks and that’s it!! End of story!
Ingredients:
String beans – 1handfull
Grated Coconut- 2 handfull
Water- 1/4 cup
Green Chilly- 2
Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1/4 tsp
Mustard – little
Garlic – 2pods crushed
Salt
Curry leaves
Method:
Cut the beans into very small pieces. This is the tedious process here.
In a pan add the cut beans, water, salt, green chillies and curry leaves. Let it boil for 10 minutes.
In a pan, add mustard.
Mash coconut with your palm and add it to this.
Mix with turmeric powder, chilli powder and garlic.
Add the boiled beans and close the pan with a lid. Cook for ten minutes.
Mix well and it is ready to be served.
