D is for Daisies- a New found Love!!

Let me begin with a confession- I don’t like gardening! I know, don’t point fingers at me. But I’m definitely ashamed to say that I don’t have the patience for the same. But I know two persons in my life who absolutely love it. The Two Men in mdaisy bouquety Life- My Dad and P.

Right from my childhood, I could see my Dad diligently watering and nurturing the plants he had planted. Morning and evening, he could be found in the garden. I’ll only be fascinated to click pictures of the roses and sunflowers when they bloom. 😦 Not something to be proud of 😦

And little did I know that I’ll be married to a replica of my Dad 😛  P loves gardening. And often accuse, yes accuse me of not finding an interest in the same.

A few weeks back, we bought few lovely Daisy plants. I love this flower so much that I often prefer a bouquet of daisies than of roses. ❤

Here are some interesting facts about the Daisies.

Did you know??

  • The name “daisy” is thought to come from the Old English “daes eage”, meaning “day’s eye”, for the way in which it opens at dawn.
  • A daisy is actually two flowers in one: the (usually) white petals and the cluster of (usually) tiny yellow disc petals that form the “eye”.
  • Daisy leaves are edible and can make a tasty addition to salads (they’re closely related to artichoke and are high in Vitamin C).
  • Bees love daisy relatives, including Goldenrod, making them an important friend of honey makers.
  • Daisy symbolizes purity, innocence, loyal love, beauty, patience and simplicity.

You want to see how my Daisies look like? Here, it is 😀
