UBC Day 4- iSmile #4- Open Air Theater and My First Movie Review

It was a better day. I took a break from work (read- bunked!!), and I had time to myself. I read few blogs, cut out recipes from magazines and I even had a good sound sleep. 🙂

The icing on the cake was when my hubby took me to an open air theater for the movie- “Bobby Jasoos”. Breezy winds and pine trees surrounding the theater, it was relaxing and spectacular! As the cold breeze ruffled my hair, I watched the movie, holding hands with my loved one. It was perfect!!! (though the movie was half as perfect).

Bilkis Ahmad aka Bobby Jasoos (Vidya Balan) plays a 30-year-old amateur detective who dreams of becoming the top sleuth in Mughal Puri, a neighbourhood of Hyderabad. She dons disguises of mixed variety and snoops on the neighbourhood – some trying to make matrimony, some trying to break it. People ‘hire’ the services of Bobby to shadow and click background checks on people. A young and ambitious broadcast journalist, Tasawur (Ali Fazal) also hires Bobby from time to time to foil marriage proposals orchestrated by his orthodox parents. She hits the jackpot when Anees Khan (Kiran Kumar), a mysterious stranger in a big car, offers her a pot of gold to hunt down a couple of young girls. Bobby painstakingly pursues the case with barely a handful of clues, in the most outrageous of schemes possible. Later, Bobby ponder the perennial question on whether the man is evil?

Mystery unfolds in the second half and I wish, the climax was a better one! Flawless acting from Vidya, she has got everything right from different looks to her accent. And Vidya has proved it yet again! The film lacks the thrill quotient which was an ultimate requisite for a plot like this. Should you watch it? Elementary, my dear friend.

But watching in an Open air theatre? Hands down, YES!! ❤ ❤ ❤

P.S: Thanks Kajal, you have been my inspiration to write a movie review! If you haven’t checked her blog yet, high time you jump in to MovieMasala

wow.. we have such theatres in India??? I mean, I’ve only seen those in English movies (usually before a monster attacks, tearing through the screen 😀 ) But yes, it’s on my bucket list now to watch a movie in an open air theater!
Good review… still undecided on whether I want to go for the movie though.

  7. Many many moons ago, we had a drive in theatre in Mumbai. Not sure if it’s still functioning but it was great fun. And each Diwali my lane would show a movie in the open air – that was fun too. Nice write.
