Mesmerizing Malaysia

Diverse. Healing. Growing. Beautiful. Exotic. How else can you describe Malaysia! So, when my fiance popped up the question on where I would like to travel for our honeymoon, I immediately answered Malaysia!

He was clearly wonder-struck as he imagined me saying London Paris or New York like any lovey-dovey girl would say. Though it has been a year after our wedding (Yeah, we celebrated our Paper Anniversary a week ago… yippeeyay..

So, it was really surprising when my phone beeped with a new mail- “Blogadda- All paid trip to Malaysia!!” My joy knew no bounds. I immediately pictured my blog post among the winning entries and even travelling to the alluring and surreal Malaysia. Well, you can’t blame me- I am a Dreamer and this would be a Dream come true!

Five Must-to-do ‘s in Malaysia:

a. Langkawi

The first thing that pops in my head is the beautiful, clean picturesque beaches. And the choice definitely would be Langkawi. Enticing, isn’t it?? Apart from the beaches, I would definitely go for the Langkawi Bird Paradise and Wildlife Park- the first fully covered wildlife park in Asia. It would be fascinating to see about 150 species of birds such as canaries, owls, eagles, toucans, hornbills and flamingos. I shall also opt for the Sky Bridge, Underwater World and a Sunset Dinner Cruise. Who doesn’t want to be pampered!! 🙂

b. Sabah

A true Piscean that I am, (infact my hubby darling is also a Piscean..), our next choice would be Sabah– underwater diving. I will definitely be scared to death, even the mere thought of it makes me gasping for breath….. But as shown in the Bollywood movie “ZNMD”, I’m sure it would be a unique experience and who wouldn’t want to click pics with the sharks and even get a postcard with the turtles! Who knows, I might even see “Nemo and his Dad”!! 

There is always an option to go for the River Safari in the Kinabatangan River which is a renowned wildlife sanctuary with exotic species such as Proboscis monkeys, Sumatran rhinos and Asian elephants.

c. Batu and Mulu Caves

Okay, seeing the pic of Gunung Mulu National Park– I went flabbergasted- “Is it Waterfall? No, some tree?? Oh My God, these are  limestone karst formations!” I have read that the age of these rocks is between 40 and 90 million years. I’m sure that it has outstanding scenic values and provide superlative wildlife spectacle with the natural phenomenon of millions of bats and swift-lets leaving and entering the caves.

The Batu caves in Selangor is famous for its 140 feet high Hindu God- Lord Murugan statue (Wow, that would be enormous!) and for the “Thaipusam Festival”. Apparently, there are 272 steps leading to the temple cave which is the biggest of three caves. It is going to be a mini-trekking for me.  

d. George Town

I might be done with waters and caves by now. I might next walk on the colonial streets of George Town like ♔♔Queen Victoria♔♔. No wonder called as the Melting pot- it combines elements of Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch and English culture and is considered the most valuable historic place. The place is filled with many architectural surprises, each wanting stories to tell- the beautifully decorated Chinese homes,The Kek Lok Si Buddhist temple, Museum Art and Gallery, War Park are few places that are a must to see.

e. Kuala Lumpur

Last, but definitely not the least- Kuala Lumpur– the capital City of Malaysia. What more do I want than to end my trip with loads of shopping and eating -Chinatown. I shall shop till I drop in the famous “China Town” that sells anything from food, clothing, bags, shoes, jewelry, and much much more.  Eating is definitely on top of my list as I love to experience the flavors of the delicious Chinese, Malay, Indian, Thai, Burmese, Italian and “you-name-it, you-have-it” Cuisines. Very unlikely to be disappointed with food in Kuala Lumpur, I’m heard that there is always something to suit everyone’s taste.

I also want to visit the twin towers of Petronas. (Why am I thinking of Harry Potter’s Petronus Charm??? Ehum…) Seems like we can go up to the bridge halfway up the towers to check out the view, which is truly spectacular. 

I also want to have some fun at the Sunway Lagoon, Malaysia’s best and largest theme park today. Set amidst beautifully landscaped surroundings and with more than 80 rides to choose from, who doesn’t want to break away from the memories of your routine life.

 I have actually planned  the entire trip. Wow! Wish I could actually go someday. 🙂
