3-taste Uthappam

Not a breakfast person (Both of us!!!), it is very rare that we have’em. Today was one of those days. And this was what I had prepared. Cute, aren’t they?? 🙂 🙂

The topping can be purely your choice in this 3-taste Uthappam. I’m leaving it to your imagination and creativity. Here I have made Onion Uthappam, Tomato-Onion Uthappam and Carrot Uthappam. My personal favourite is, however, Onion Uthappam, esp the ones with Shallots. It would give a special flavour than the large onions.



Idli dosa batter, Carrot (grated), Shallots (sliced thinly), Tomato (De-seeded and finely chopped), Coriander leaves, Ghee / oil


Keep the ingredients ready.

Heat pan and grease it with oil/ghee. Take batter in a small laddle and pour on the pan. Make sure, it is thick. Top it with your favourite. Cook in medium flame. Drizzle some coconut oil/ghee over the topping. Flip once the bottom turns golden and cook in low to medium flame for a minute or two. It would be good to give a small tap on the dosa so that the topping would stick to it. Serve hot with Sambar or Chutneys of your choice. 🙂
